This movie poster was designed to represent the iconic movie “The Shining” through symbols and custom typography. These symbols represent scenes throughout the movie while layering meaning and creating a deeper significance behind each mark. Such as the eye icon, the center iris is actually a drop of blood because of Danny’s ability to see into the future which is mostly about the hotels murders. The custom typography is a play on the ghosts in the movie as well the general sense of when you watch the film, you aren’t completely sure if what you’re seeing is real. The negative space is what makes ups the ‘i’s’ is a play on not seeing something but still being able to read it. This poster was fun to create because of all the symbolism that Stanley Kubrick put into this movie.
